Health Technician
A health technician provides direct care to patients without supervision from a nurse or doctor. As an allied health professional, their duties are to complete tasks and assist medical staff. These tasks are dependent on their specialty but may include taking vital signs, changing bedding, redressing wounds, and delivering food to patients. Technicians work in a variety of settings including pharmacies, hospitals, and long-term care facilities. They typically work in a full-time or temporary relief position. Common specializations include mental health, which focuses on patient behavior, as well as emergency medicine, environmental health, or pharmaceutical.

1. Five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in not more than two (2) sittings in any of the following: Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE), National Examination Commission (NECO), General Certificate of Education (GCE). Candidates wishing to undergo this course must possess credit in English, Biology/Health science, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics
2. Holders of Certificate for Environmental Health Assistant (EHA), Dental Surgery Assistant, Health Assistant and any other related programme with two (2) years post qualification experience can also apply and be admitted into 200 level provided they fulfill the entry requirement in (1) above.
